IEEE Buenaventura Spring Mixer 2023 The spring mixer was held at Hub101, California Lutheran University’s extension campus. The event was attended by 30 IEEE and community members. Dinner was served from Stonefire Grill courtesy of IEEE. Buenaventura Section Chair, Momin Quddus emceed the event. Dr. Marion Vellenave of Jet Propulsion Labs presented and interesting lecture on Protoplanetary Disks to Understand Planet Formation. The lecture was followed vibrant Q&A session. Audience participation was great. Antennas: From Ham Radio to Modern Communication Systems On May 9, Dr. Hanseung Lee of HRL gave a seminar to the IEEE Buenaventura Communications Society Chapter. The seminar provided a comprehensive overview of basic antenna theory and the introduction of various antenna types, from ham radio to modern communication systems. He began with an introduction to basic antenna theory, including the principles of radiation and antenna parameters. He then explored various types of antennas and their respective properties and applications. He also covered advanced antenna concepts, antenna arrays and beamforming techniques. The focus was on practical applications and how different types of antennas can be used to advance communication systems. (slides)
